DrinCloud vs Noterro: an honest comparison for cash-pay clinics
Noterro is cheaper than DrinCloud at every practice size, and that belongs in the first line, not a footnote. Core is $33 a month against our $49. Three practitioners run $99 against our $179. Six run $165 against our $407. Noterro is also very good at the job it was built for: massage, manual physical therapy, chiropractic and small manual therapy clinics paid directly by the patient. DrinCloud is the US edition of a clinic system with 12+ years and 8,000+ clinics in 14 countries. Our case is clinical depth, three languages with the portal and reminders translated, and an AI scribe with no minute counter. If you bill insurance, Noterro's Max plan does it and we do not, so jump to block seven. Prices on pricing, the rest in all comparisons.
Noterro wins the price block and it is not close. Core $33, Plus $55, Max $77, one practitioner each, with extra seats at $13.20, $22 and $27.50. At every headcount we checked its plan price is smaller than ours. It also throws in 14 days with no credit card, unlimited assistant seats and unlimited locations on the $33 plan, a clinic-branded booking app, QuickBooks and Xero exports, two-factor authentication with IP restriction, packages and memberships, tipping on card payments, and group classes with attendance. If the monthly bill is the deciding number, stop here and buy Noterro.
The AI is where the sticker misleads. Noterro Scribe is usage-priced: 300 credits a month on every plan, which its own page calls about 60 form summaries or 18 minutes of recording, then $0.01 a credit. Eighteen minutes is less than one visit. Record 20 half-hour visits and you burn 10,000 credits, so $97 on top of a $33 plan, $130 all in against our $69, because our scribe is $20 a month per provider with no meter. The mirror image is insurance: Max files real claims through Availity, Office Ally and Trizetto and prefills the CMS-1500. That block goes 5.0 to our 0.6.

Sources: noterro.com/pricing and drincloud.com/pricing, checked November 2, 2026. Noterro also showed an end-of-year offer that day, three months free for accounts subscribing by December 31. DrinCloud figures are the annual rate; monthly runs $59, $128, $143, $344 and $689.
Noterro takes this block and the zeros in our column say why: cheaper at one practitioner, cheaper at six, and 14 days free before you pay. We claw back on shape, not size. Clinic covers 1 to 3 users and Medical Center 4 to 30, so a hire does not move the bill, and the scribe is a flat $20 instead of a credit meter. Their annual discount has no published figure; ours is twelve months at the price of ten, on pricing. Same arithmetic in what an EHR really costs a small practice.
The real math: five invoices, including the ones we lose
| Scenario | DrinCloud | Noterro |
|---|---|---|
| Solo practitioner, no AI recording | $49/moEssential, annual billing | $33/moCore. They win by $16 |
| Solo practitioner, 20 recorded visits of 30 minutes | $69/moEssential $49 plus the $20 scribe. 600 minutes or 6,000, the price does not move | $130/mo$33 plus credits: 30 min = 500 credits, 20 visits = 10,000, less the 300 included, 9,700 x $0.01 = $97 |
| 3 practitioners, no AI recording | $119/moClinic covers 1 to 3 users | $99/moPlus $55 plus 2 x $22. They win by $20 |
| 3 practitioners, each recording 20 visits of 30 minutes | $179/moClinic $119 plus 3 x $20 | $396/mo$99 plus 29,700 credits at $0.01 = $297 |
| 6 practitioners, no AI recording | $287/moMedical Center covers 4 to 30 users | $165/moPlus $55 plus 5 x $22. They win by $122 |
Arithmetic with the rates on noterro.com/pricing and drincloud.com/pricing, checked November 2, 2026. The conversion is Noterro's own: 300 included credits equal about 60 form summaries or 18 minutes of Scribe recording, further credits $0.01. That is 16.67 credits a minute, so 30 minutes costs 500. The page gives one allowance per plan and does not say it scales with seats, so the three-practitioner row deducts it once. The 15% annual discount is excluded because no annual amount is published.
Three of these five invoices go to Noterro and we printed all three. The two that do not are the two where somebody records visits all month, the only place the credit meter bites: 18 included minutes is less than one physical therapy assessment. Record 20 half-hour visits and you pay $97 of credits on a $33 plan; three practitioners pay $297. Ours is $20 a provider for four visits or four hundred, the whole design of the AI scribe. The real question is not which plan is cheaper. It is whether you dictate your notes.

The heaviest block, and Noterro earns the top of it: a massage or chiro practitioner gets SOAP notes, orthopedic assessments and predictive tags on day one, where we hand over a form builder. Then the scores split. Its AI documents; ours also advises, with a clinical assistant on every plan. Its scribe meters minutes; ours does not. And the record goes deeper: history that drags itself forward, admitted patients by floor and room, surgery scheduling, test results. If your charting is an outpatient treatment note, that depth is weight you never use. See the AI scribe.

Two Noterro wins the table understates. Group classes with attendance matter to any studio running a mat class, and its branded booking app puts your logo in the client's hand; we only embed booking into the site you have. Unlimited locations sit on its $33 plan; multi-clinic costs us $287. Our wins are physical, because this software grew up in buildings with a reception desk: a tablet kiosk that rates the visit, and a call screen. Note their plan wall: text reminders and waitlists are both $55 features. For a chiropractic office with one room, that may never matter.

DrinCloud card rates are the standard Stripe US rates on the client's own account, not a DrinCloud fee.
Read this as a fit question. Noterro wins two rows that matter enormously in its own market: a tipping prompt, used on nearly every massage transaction and absent here, and packages and memberships with automatic payments, which is how much of manual therapy sells. Thinner on its side is the rest of the cash-pay furniture: no published processing rate, no deposit at booking, no sliding scale on the record, no priced estimate they sign, superbills behind the $55 plan. Ours are in every plan from $49. More on superbills.

Two honest wins for Noterro: a referral rewards program we do not have, and years of North American massage, physio and chiro clinics already on it, worth real money the week you hire someone who knows it. Neither of us publishes a support phone line, so nobody wins that one. Our ground is the bilingual clinic, and the difference is who does the work: there the client taps a globe icon and Google translates the portal, here it is a field on the record that the reminders, forms and documents follow. Written up for massage therapy practices.

Five point zero against zero point six, and no wording fixes it. Max is a real insurance product: it files the claim, prefills the CMS-1500, talks to Availity, Office Ally and Trizetto, tracks what the payer paid, and handles TELUS eClaims in Canada. We have none of it, not one piece, and that is a decision, not a backlog. Add the rest we lack: no e-prescribing, so CA, FL, NY, MI, MN and DE need a separate e-Rx platform; no ONC certification, voluntary and only for Medicare and MIPS; no CPT database, because that is an AMA license. If payers pay your rent, buy Noterro Max. Other routes in alternatives to DrinCloud.

Neither vendor documents a public API or a Zapier connector on those pages.
Noterro takes the smallest block and takes it fairly. QuickBooks and Xero exports save a bookkeeper real hours, Mailchimp is the list tool most small clinics already pay for, and two-factor authentication with an IP allowlist is on its feature page while we publish neither. Both of us let your data in free and out again, and neither has a developer story worth bragging about. One thing to settle first: its HIPAA page describes encryption and audit logging but names no business associate agreement, and ours is on every plan. Ask for it in writing, of us and of any physical therapy vendor you shortlist.
Which one fits you?
Noterro is the better fit if...
- The monthly bill decides it. Noterro is cheaper at every size we checked: $33 against $49 solo, $99 against $179 at three practitioners, $165 against $407 at six. The honest headline of this page.
- You bill insurance. Max files claims, tracks payments, prefills the CMS-1500 and works with Availity, Office Ally and Trizetto, plus TELUS eClaims in Canada. We score 0.6 against their 5.0.
- You are a massage, manual physical therapy or chiropractic clinic. SOAP notes, orthopedic assessments and predictive charting are there on day one, plus a tipping prompt we do not have at all.
- You sell packages or memberships with automatic payments, or run group classes with attendance. Both are modules we have not built.
- You want to try before you pay: 14 days with no credit card, against our one-month minimum.
- You want a booking app with your own branding, unlimited locations on the entry plan, QuickBooks and Xero exports, two-factor authentication and referral rewards. We lose all five. See also what an EHR really costs a small practice.
DrinCloud is the better fit if...
- You dictate your notes every day. Our scribe is $20 a month per provider with no meter; theirs includes 18 minutes, then $0.01 a credit: $97 for 20 half-hour visits, $297 for three practitioners.
- You want AI that advises, not just transcribes: a clinical assistant for differentials, interactions and guidelines on every plan, and the booking chatbot at $20 per clinic.
- Your record has to go past a treatment note: admitted patients by floor and room with physician and nursing forms, surgery scheduling, test results, before and after photos, procedures charged on top of the visit.
- Part of your schedule speaks Spanish or Portuguese: the software in each user's language, and a language field on the patient that decides what language their reminders, portal, forms and documents arrive in.
- You run a physical front desk: tablet check-in with a visit rating, a waiting room call screen, a waitlist that refills cancellations, an operating room calendar.
- You want the cash-pay basics in the cheapest plan, not behind a wall: form builder, superbills and scribe all work from $49, while theirs start at $55.
- You charge cash-pay the way it works: a deposit when the slot is booked, a sliding scale on the record, a priced quote they sign, and a superbill with NPI, EIN, CPT and ICD-10.
- You want your own Stripe account holding the money at the standard 2.9% plus $0.30, with no surcharge from us.
- You want the move in free and the exit open: Excel or XML in, CSV and PDF out, a BAA on every plan. Prices on pricing.

'Not documented' means the feature does not appear on the vendor's public website on that date, not that it does not exist. The credit arithmetic uses the conversion published on Noterro's own pricing page, 300 included credits equal to about 60 form summaries or 18 minutes of Scribe recording with further credits at $0.01, and assumes one 300-credit monthly allowance per account because the page does not state that it scales with practitioner seats. Noterro scenario rows exclude its 15% annual discount because no annual amount is published. Card rates quoted for DrinCloud are the standard Stripe US rates on a client's own Stripe account, not a DrinCloud fee. Scores come only from the table cells, with the published formula.
