DrinCloud vs Jane App: an honest comparison for cash-pay clinics

Jane App is one of the best-liked clinic platforms in North America, especially in physio, chiro and massage. DrinCloud is the US edition of a clinic system with 15+ years and 8,000+ clinics in 14 countries, built for cash-pay practices. We compare both block by block with data verified on the official sites, and where Jane is the better buy, we say so.

The final score
DrinCloud
4.1/5
★★★★☆
Jane App
3.0/5
★★★☆☆

Jane App charges per practitioner ($79 for the first on its Practice plan, then about $35 each) and per AI seat ($15 for unlimited Scribe notes), with rooms, waitlists and memberships arriving in its $99 Thrive plan. DrinCloud charges by practice size band with everything in every plan: the record, AI on your own OpenAI key, unlimited telehealth, the portal, surveys and campaigns, from $49 a month billed annually.

The math that matters: for one practitioner with AI notes, Jane runs $94 a month and DrinCloud runs $49, close enough that Jane's template library can fairly decide it. At three practitioners Jane reaches $194 while DrinCloud holds at $119, and at ten Jane reaches $544 while DrinCloud stays at $249. Jane wins the charting library, included SMS and support rows, and scores 3.5 on clinical record, its best block; DrinCloud takes pricing structure, languages and front-desk hardware.

Methodology: data comes from the official public pages of jane.app (pricing, guide and feature pages; per-practitioner fees read from its own pricing calculator) and drincloud.com, checked on August 20, 2026. Each cell is scored Yes = 1 point, partial or plan-limited = 0.5, No or Not documented = 0; purely informational pricing rows do not score. A block's score is its points divided by its scored rows, on a 5-point scale, and the final score is the weighted average of the seven scored blocks: pricing and transparency 20%, clinical record and AI 25%, scheduling and patient communication 15%, getting paid 15%, languages and patient experience 10%, insurance, claims and prescribing 10%, and integrations and data 5%. This comparison is published by DrinCloud: we are an interested party, which is exactly why every claim points to a public source with a date, and why we mark a cell 'Not documented' instead of 'No' when a vendor's site is silent. If you find an outdated cell, write to info@drincloud.com and we will correct the data and the score.

Credit where due: Jane publishes one of the clearest pricing pages in the industry and prints 'Unlimited Human Support' on every plan, two rows it wins outright. The structural difference is what happens when you hire: Jane adds roughly $35 a month per full-time practitioner while DrinCloud's bands hold flat, and Jane's plans gate features (Balance caps appointments at 20 a month, rooms and memberships live in Thrive) while DrinCloud's three plans differ only in headcount.

The real math

The real math: three scenarios

ScenarioDrinCloudJane App
Solo clinician with AI notes$49/moSolo Practice, annual billing. AI drafting inside; your OpenAI usage is billed by OpenAI at cost$94/moPractice $79 + unlimited AI Scribe $15 = $94. Balance at $54 + $15 = $69 exists, but caps you at 20 appointments per month
3 practitioners, AI for everyone$119/moGroup Practice, one flat rate for 2 to 3 providers$194/moPractice $79 + 2 extra full-time practitioners x $35 = $149, plus 3 x $15 AI Scribe = $194
10 practitioners, AI for everyone$249/moMedical Center, the same price from 4 to 15 providers$544/moPractice $79 + 9 x $35 = $394, plus 10 x $15 AI Scribe = $544

Arithmetic with the base rates on jane.app/pricing, checked August 20, 2026, and the per-practitioner fees shown in Jane's own pricing calculator on the same date. On Thrive the same three clinics run $114 ($99 + $15), $224 ($99 + 2 x $40 + 3 x $15) and $609 ($99 + 9 x $40 + 10 x $15). Confirm your exact quote in Jane's calculator, then redo this table with your headcount.

For a solo practitioner the honest verdict is: the gap is small. Jane at $94 with unlimited AI notes against DrinCloud at $49 plus your OpenAI usage is a difference you might happily pay for Jane's template library. The verdict changes with headcount: at three practitioners Jane runs $194 against DrinCloud's $119, and at ten it is $544 against $249, because Jane charges per practitioner twice, once for the seat and once for the AI.

Jane charts well and everyone knows it: the community template library, strong intake forms and an AI Scribe that ships 5 free notes a month on every plan earn it 3.5 here, the best competitor block on this page. DrinCloud's edge is AI scope: beyond drafting the note, the clinical assistant answers differential and interaction questions and the chatbot handles patients with your center's own information, none of which Jane's public site documents.

Jane's booking experience is deservedly famous and its included SMS reminders beat our $36 packs, a row Jane wins. Two asterisks matter for a growing clinic: rooms and automated waitlists live in Thrive at $99, while DrinCloud ships both in the $49 plan, and the physical front desk, tablet kiosk and waiting room screen, is DrinCloud territory that Jane's site does not document.

Jane wins two rows a wellness clinic should weigh: gift cards, and packages and memberships on Thrive, real revenue tools DrinCloud does not have and does not pretend to. DrinCloud answers with retail and case work: product sales that deduct stock from the invoice itself, sliding scale fees per patient, and quotes that become treatment plans.

Both platforms grew up multidisciplinary, so one patient booking physio and massage in one flow ties. The separation is language and follow-through: DrinCloud runs the interface in each user's language, tags every patient with the language of their reminders and portal, surveys them after each visit and fires campaigns off patient events. Jane's public site documents none of those, which matches its home market more than it matches a bilingual US clinic.

Insurance claims✗ Noby design, and we say it plainly✓ Yesinsurance billing add-on at $20/mo plus per-practitioner fees, in supported markets

Block score · Insurance, claims and prescribing (10%)1.73.3

Sources: jane.app/pricing and drincloud.com, checked August 20, 2026.

An honest block for both sides: neither DrinCloud nor Jane is an insurance-first platform. Jane wins it because its $20-a-month insurance billing add-on is a real offering in supported markets, while DrinCloud refuses the category outright. If claims are your main revenue, do not choose between us: pick an insurance-first EHR, and read our SimplePractice comparison to see what that trade looks like.

Data moves freely on both sides, in and out, and both operate under HIPAA with a BAA. The AI economics differ: Jane resells its Scribe at $15 per practitioner per month, DrinCloud plugs into the OpenAI account you own, so usage is billed at cost and scales with real use instead of headcount.

The honest answer

Which one fits you?

Jane App is the better fit if...

  • You are in physio, chiro or massage and want its community template library working on day one.
  • You are solo and light on notes: Balance at $54, or Practice at $79 plus the $15 unlimited AI Scribe, is honest money for a beloved product.
  • You want SMS reminders included instead of DrinCloud's $36 packs of 300.
  • You bill some insurance and its $20-a-month insurance billing add-on covers your market.
  • Packages, memberships and gift cards drive your revenue: Thrive sells all three, DrinCloud sells none.
  • You want 'Unlimited Human Support' in writing on the pricing page, plus guided demos before you decide.

DrinCloud is the better fit if...

  • You are 3 practitioners or more: DrinCloud runs $119 for 2 to 3 and $249 for 4 to 15, while Jane adds about $35 per practitioner plus $15 per AI seat.
  • You want AI beyond a scribe: a clinical assistant for differentials and interactions, and a patient chatbot trained on your center, on your own OpenAI key.
  • Part of your schedule speaks Spanish or Portuguese: interface per user, and reminders, portal and documents in each patient's language.
  • You want rooms and an automatic waitlist without buying the top plan: both ship in DrinCloud's $49 plan, against Jane's Thrive at $99.
  • Your reception should run itself: tablet check-in kiosk, waiting room call screen and post-visit surveys with statistics.
  • You sell products: invoices deduct stock automatically, with separate numbering.
  • You do procedures or aesthetic work: before and after photos, quotes and treatment plans, surgery scheduling and even hospitalization for surgical centers.
  • You market by events: 'if X happened, send Y after Z days' campaigns by email or SMS, plus birthday messages and referral-source tracking.
  • You would rather test than talk: 15-day trial with sample data, no credit card and no demo call.
  • You want the exit door open: full CSV and PDF export, free, whenever you want.
FAQ

Questions about this comparison

Can I migrate from Jane App to DrinCloud?
Yes. Export your patient list from Jane, send us the CSV or Excel and we import it free. Chart exports in PDF attach to each patient's file pool. Assisted migration starts at $600 if you hand us the whole job, and the 15-day trial lets you check the result before paying anything.
Jane is only $5 more at entry. Why switch at all?
If you stay solo and light, maybe do not switch: we say that in the verdict. The case appears with growth and with scope. At three practitioners Jane costs $194 a month with AI against DrinCloud's $119, and DrinCloud's $49 plan already includes rooms, waitlist automation, surveys, campaigns and two more languages, items Jane gates in Thrive or does not document.
Is Jane's $15 AI Scribe cheaper than DrinCloud's bring-your-own-key AI?
Sometimes, and we will not hide it. Jane charges a flat $15 per practitioner for unlimited notes. DrinCloud charges $0 and your OpenAI account pays actual usage, which for a typical caseload is small, but heavy dictation is on you. The structural difference: our AI also covers the clinical assistant and the patient chatbot, and never multiplies by headcount.
Where does the final score come from?
From the tables on this page and nothing else. Every scored row gives each product 1, 0.5 or 0 points, each block becomes a score out of 5, and the final number is the weighted average with the published weights. Redo the math yourself; if a 'Not documented' cell turns out to be documented, we correct the cell and the score.
Is this comparison impartial?
It is published by DrinCloud, and we put that in the methodology. Every Jane cell comes from jane.app with a check date, the rows Jane wins are printed plainly, including support, SMS, gift cards and the template library, and Jane's insurance add-on outscores us in its block. Corrections: info@drincloud.com.
How often is this page updated?
We recheck prices and features periodically; the verification date sits in the header and every correction is logged at the bottom of the page.
