DrinCloud vs Zanda: an honest comparison for allied health and medical practices
Zanda is cheaper than DrinCloud at every practice size, and we will not pretend otherwise. One professional with the AI scribe unlimited is $68 there against $69 here, a dollar. Then the gap opens: $116 against $159 with two, $164 against $179 with three, $308 against $407 with six. And one correction we owe you: Zanda does bill US insurance. Its features page documents clearinghouse integration, real time eligibility checks and CMS-1500 forms, and its knowledge base prices the add-on at $50 to enroll and 15 cents a claim. We checked, because the Australian integrations are the loud ones. So read this as a product comparison, not cash-pay against insurance. Prices on pricing, the rest in all comparisons.
Zanda is a good product and it beats us on price at every headcount. It was Power Diary until November 2024, its about page claims thousands of practices in 23+ countries, and it wins plenty that has nothing to do with price: 14 days free with no card, a money-back guarantee in the first 12 months, a free telehealth option, two way SMS chat, body charts in the note, group appointments with individual invoicing, and US insurance claiming with free eligibility requests. We file no claims at all and score 0.9 against their 4.1 there.
Two numbers decide it: the AI counter and the card fee. Zanda includes 4 AI Scribe appointments per practitioner a month, and unlimited needs AI Pro at $19. A clinician recording 60 visits a month is covered for 4 of them, under 7%, so $19 is the real price. Our scribe is $20 a provider with no counter. On payments both sides use your own Stripe at 2.9% plus 30 cents, but Zanda deducts 50 cents per payment on top: on 300 payments of $150 that is $1,545 a month against our $1,395.

Zanda takes this block and the shape of the two lists explains why. It charges $49 for the Growth base and $29 a practitioner after that, so a five person clinic pays $165 before AI. We charge by band, $119 for 1 to 3 users and $287 for 4 to 30, which only pays off once seats pile up, and their seat is cheap enough that it never does. Our wins are narrower: no appointment cap, no second AI subscription, two months free on annual. See what an EHR costs a small practice.
The real math: six invoices
| Scenario | DrinCloud | Zanda |
|---|---|---|
| One professional, scribe unlimited | $69/moEssential $49 plus the $20 scribe | $68/moGrowth $49 plus AI Pro $19 |
| 2 professionals, AI for both | $159/moClinic $119 for 1 to 3 users, plus 2 x $20 | $116/mo$78 plus 2 x $19. They are $43 cheaper |
| 3 professionals, AI for all three | $179/moClinic $119 still covers three, plus 3 x $20 | $164/mo$107 plus 3 x $19. $15 cheaper |
| 6 professionals, AI for everyone | $407/moMedical Center $287 for 4 to 30, plus 6 x $20 | $308/mo$194 plus 6 x $19. $99 cheaper |
| A clinician recording 60 visits a month | $20per provider, flat. Four recordings or four hundred | $19AI Core covers 4 of 60, under 7%. The rest needs AI Pro |
| 300 card payments of $150 a month | $1,3952.9% plus 30c on your own Stripe, nothing from us | $1,545same rate plus a 50c Connect Fee per payment |
Arithmetic with the rates on zandahealth.com/us/pricing/ and drincloud.com/pricing, checked November 2, 2026, scribe unlimited for everyone and telehealth excluded. The 50 cent Connect Fee and the 2.9% plus 30 cents card rate are the US figures in Zanda's Stripe setup article.
Four of these six rows go to Zanda, so if the monthly invoice is the decision you can stop here. The last two are where our case lives. Their AI headline reads as included, and it is, for four appointments a practitioner a month; a clinician who records most of the day needs AI Pro, so the honest AI price is $19 against our $20 with no counter. On cards both sides sit on your own Stripe at the same rate, except Zanda takes 50 cents a payment. At 300 payments that is $1,800 a year.

The heaviest block, and Zanda earns three rows outright: unlimited AI writing and editing on every plan, insights built from the client's own history, and body charts a hands-on practitioner uses daily. Three things keep the scores apart. Its scribe stops at four appointments a month unless you add $19, its AI documents rather than advises, and the record was drawn for allied health, so urgent care, diagnostic tests, an operating room and inpatients are not in it. More on the AI scribe.

The daily basics tie, as they should between two grown-up calendars. Zanda is better on messaging: two way SMS chat we do not publish, a cheaper message at 9 cents against our 12, and a free telehealth option that beats our $10 add-on on the entry plan. We pull ahead at the physical front desk, because our product grew up in buildings with reception counters: tablet check-in with a visit rating, a call screen, excuse notes in one click. For a solo massage therapist that is noise. For a six room clinic it decides the morning.

Zanda does superbills, and does them well: generated from invoices, sent monthly on their own, with the NPI printing under the practitioner name. That is more than most people expect and we say so. The gaps are the smaller furniture of a practice the patient pays directly: a sliding scale on the record, a priced quote they sign, products sold with stock coming off the invoice, and the EIN and diagnosis codes actually on the superbill. Then add 50 cents to every card payment. See superbills.

Three fair wins for Zanda. Group appointments with individual invoices and reminders are a real workflow we do not document. The operations manual with AI tools is a good idea for a clinic that is hiring. And years as Power Diary mean corners worn smooth. Our ground is the bilingual practice: the software in each user's language, and a language field on the patient that decides what language their reminders, portal and documents arrive in. Neither of us publishes a phone number. More for physical therapy.

Four point one against zero point nine, and no writing changes that. This is also the block where the usual story about Zanda is wrong: it is not an Australia only product with Medicare, DVA and NDIS and nothing else. It files US claims through an integrated clearinghouse, fills the CMS-1500 with CPT and diagnosis codes, and publishes eligibility requests as free. If payers pay your rent, buy Zanda and close this tab. We built no claims engine on purpose, hold no ONC certification, and send prescriptions as PDFs. See alternatives to DrinCloud.

A tie, and Zanda deserves it. It has the longer integration list and the certificate to go with it: Xero, Square, Physitrack, an ISO 27001 claim and a public API already answering GET requests. Both of us sign HIPAA terms and both let your data out in full, so the real question is who does the moving in. Zanda does it for you, which is faster and also means waiting in somebody else's queue. Our importer is free and a bad import is redone the same afternoon you spot it.
Which one fits you?
Zanda is the better fit if...
- Price decides it. Zanda is cheaper at every size: $68 against $69 with one professional, $116 against $159 with two, $164 against $179 with three, $308 against $407 with six.
- You bill US insurance. Claims through an integrated clearinghouse at 15 cents each, free eligibility requests, CMS-1500 forms filled in with CPT and diagnosis codes, ERAs at 10 cents. We score 0.9 against their 4.1.
- You want to try before paying: 14 days with no credit card, and a money-back guarantee in the first 12 months. We sell neither.
- You are allied health and nothing else. Body charts in the note, group appointments with individual invoicing, two way SMS chat at 9 cents, and years of corners worn smooth as Power Diary.
- You want a free telehealth option on the entry plan instead of our $10 add-on on the $49 plan.
- You want somebody else to do the migration, Xero in your accounting and an ISO 27001 certificate on the security page.
DrinCloud is the better fit if...
- You record most of your day. Our scribe is $20 a provider with no appointment counter; theirs includes 4 a month and then costs $19. At 60 recorded visits, AI Core covers under 7%.
- You want AI that advises as well as documents: a clinical assistant for differentials, drug interactions and guidelines on every plan, plus an AI booking chatbot at $20 a month per clinic.
- You are a medical clinic, not a single treatment room: urgent care, diagnostic tests, an operating room calendar with a surgical waitlist, inpatients by ward and room, and a stock room.
- Part of your schedule speaks Spanish or Portuguese: the software in each user's language, and reminders, portal and documents in each patient's own language.
- You take a lot of cards. Both sides run on your own Stripe at 2.9% plus 30 cents, but Zanda deducts 50 cents per payment: $1,800 a year on 300 payments a month.
- You charge cash-pay the way it works: a deposit at booking, a sliding scale on the record, a priced quote they sign, and a superbill with NPI, EIN, CPT and ICD-10 on it.
- You run a physical front desk: tablet check-in with a visit rating, a waiting room call screen, excuse notes in one click.
- You sell products: invoices deduct stock automatically, on their own numbering series.
- You want the CRM and the marketing inside the product instead of an export to somebody else's mailing tool.
- You want a US company, Massive Bionics LLC in Boca Raton, answering in your time zone. Prices on pricing.
