Superbill software, judged by what it has to do rather than what it prints
Any system can print a PDF with the word superbill at the top. The question is whether the codes, the identifiers and the amounts arrive on it from the visit without anyone retyping them, and whether the document carries every field a plan looks for before it refuses the claim. That is the whole job.

Every field a plan looks for
An out-of-network claim is refused for a missing identifier far more often than for a clinical reason. The document either carries all of it or it wastes your client's time.
- Practice and rendering provider name, address and phone
- Provider NPI and the practice tax ID or EIN
- Date of service and place of service on every line
- CPT procedure code with the fee charged for that line
- ICD-10 diagnosis codes supporting each procedure
- Amount already paid and the balance, if any
Filled from the visit, not retyped
If your front desk is copying codes from the chart into a template, the system is not doing the work. That is where the errors come from.
- Codes entered once on the visit flow into the receipt
- Your own code shortlist per specialty and per visit type
- Prices per service, per professional and per location
- Several lines on one visit when a procedure is billed separately
- Nothing to export to a second tool
Delivered where the client will find it
A superbill sitting in a folder on your desktop has not been delivered.
- Emailed from the visit in one click
- Available in the client portal with every past one
- Monthly statements that combine a run of visits
- Downloadable as PDF by the client, whenever they need it again
Paid first, reimbursed second
In a cash-pay practice the money arrives at the time of service. The superbill is what happens afterwards, and it should never hold up the payment.
- Card at the desk, payment link by email or text, or at online booking
- Your own Stripe account: we add no commission on top of Stripe's rate
- Prepaid packages and memberships drawn down visit by visit
- Outstanding balances chased without anybody doing it by hand
The paper trail when a plan asks questions
Months later, a payer queries a claim. The practice that can produce the record in a minute is in a very different position from the one that cannot.
- Every superbill stored against the visit it came from
- A full audit trail of who issued and changed what
- Consents and intake kept with the same record
- Free CSV export of the lot, whenever you want it
What this costs
Superbills are in every plan, from the entry price up. There is no billing module to add.
- From $49 a month for one provider, billed annually
- $119 covers one to three users, each user above three is $15
- The AI scribe is $20 a provider if you want the note drafted too
- No setup fee, no minimum term, no claims engine to pay for
Superbill software is not billing software
A billing platform exists to send a claim to a payer on your behalf, chase the remittance and work the denial. That machinery is expensive, and most vendors charge for it whether you use it or not.
Superbill software has a smaller and very different job: produce a document the patient submits themselves, with every identifier correct. If your practice never sends a claim, paying for a claims engine is paying for a room you never walk into.
DrinCloud does the second thing and not the first. It does not submit claims, check eligibility, post ERAs or work denials, and it is not ONC certified. For a practice that bills payers directly, that is a reason to buy something else, and the comparison pages say which.
What the document is, and what this page is not about
If you want the anatomy of the document itself, which fields are mandatory, what a client should do with it and how out-of-network reimbursement actually works, that is on the superbills page and in the guide to out-of-network benefits.
This page is about the software: whether it fills the thing for you, delivers it, stores it and lets you take it all with you. Those are different questions and a product can be good at one and poor at the other.
The codes are yours, not ours. DrinCloud carries no CPT code database, so you enter the codes your practice uses and the system remembers them. Coding is a professional judgement and software that guesses it for you is doing you no favours.
Built for the practice that gets paid directly
Scheduling, charting with an AI scribe, teletherapy, the client portal, payments and superbills in one subscription priced for a practice of one to five people, working in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Your patients file their own out-of-network reimbursement, so you are not paying for claims machinery you never open.
Frequently asked questions
What has to be on a superbill?
Practice and rendering provider details, the provider NPI, the practice EIN, the date and place of service, the CPT code and fee for each line, the ICD-10 diagnosis codes supporting them, and the amount the patient paid with any balance. Miss one identifier and the plan can refuse it.
Does DrinCloud submit the claim for me?
No. It produces the superbill and the patient submits it to their own plan. We do not file claims, verify benefits or post remittances, and we are not ONC certified.
Do I have to type the codes every time?
No. You build a shortlist of the codes your practice actually uses, by specialty and by visit type, and they come through from the visit onto the receipt. We do not ship a CPT database, because the coding is a professional judgement that belongs to you.
Can the patient get it themselves?
Yes. Every superbill is in the patient portal along with their past ones, downloadable as a PDF without them having to ring your front desk.
Which plan includes superbills?
All of them, from ESSENTIAL at $49 a month upward. There is no billing add-on to buy.
Can I get my billing history out?
Yes, as CSV, free, whenever you want, without a support ticket and without a notice period.
