DrinCloud vs Practice Better: an honest comparison for nutrition and functional medicine

Practice Better is the best product on the market for structured programs: 12 week protocols, food and mood journals, homework between visits, adherence you can see. We do not do that part at all. DrinCloud is the US edition of a clinic system with 12+ years and 8,000+ clinics in 14 countries, built for practices paid by the patient, visit by visit. Read this first: if your revenue comes from selling 12 week programs instead of individual appointments, buy Practice Better and close this tab. If you book visits and need a second professional without tripling the bill, the rest is for you. Prices on pricing, the rest in all comparisons, the add-on math in Practice Better pricing and alternatives.

The final score
DrinCloud
3.9/5
★★★★☆
Practice Better
3.2/5
★★★☆☆

Practice Better is built around the program, not the appointment: fixed date, evergreen and self paced programs, protocols you assign in two clicks, daily food and lifestyle journals with mood and sleep from Oura, Garmin, Fitbit or Apple Health, a practitioner commenting on every entry, and a checkout page so clients buy the program themselves. It also bills insurance and has a free plan and a client mobile app. DrinCloud is built around the visit: one flat price per practice size, the record and the superbill in every plan from $49, the AI scribe at a flat $20 per provider, telehealth and portal from the $107 Solo plan, the CRM from $119, and no programs module at all.

The math that matters is the second professional. At Practice Better an extra practitioner is $50 a month and exists only on the Team plan, so hiring one person takes the base from $69 to $155 before you pay for the person. With AI on for everyone, one professional is $79 there against $69 here, two is $175 against $159, three is $235 against $179. The mirror image is the reason they exist: programs and care between visits, where they score 5.0 and we score 1.1.

Methodology: data comes from the official public pages of practicebetter.io (pricing, and the billing, programs, journaling and payments feature pages), its help center at help.practicebetter.io (pricing plans and features comparison, Practice Better Payments FAQ, exporting client records), and drincloud.com, checked on November 2, 2026. Each cell is scored Yes = 1 point, partial or plan-limited = 0.5, No or Not documented = 0; purely informational pricing rows do not score. A block's score is its points divided by its scored rows, on a 5-point scale, and the final score is the weighted average of the seven scored blocks: pricing and transparency 20%, clinical record and AI 25%, scheduling and patient communication 15%, getting paid 15%, languages and patient experience 10%, programs and care between visits 10%, integrations and data 5%. This comparison is published by DrinCloud: we are an interested party, which is why every claim points to a public source with a date, and why a cell reads 'Not documented' instead of 'No' when a vendor's site is silent. Found an outdated cell? Write to info@dricloud.com and we will fix the data and the score.

Practice Better wins the first mile and we will not pretend otherwise: a free plan, a 14 day trial, and a $35 Starter plan under our $49 floor. We have no trial at all. The model flips when a second person joins, because their extra practitioner is $50 and lives only on Team, so the real cost of hiring is $155 plus $50. Their AI is metered and starts at $69, which makes the honest solo number $79.

The real math: three scenarios

ScenarioDrinCloudPractice Better

3 professionals with AI notes$179/moClinic $119 still covers all three, plus 3 x $20$235/moTeam $155 plus 2 x $50, plus 3 x $10

Arithmetic with the published rates on practicebetter.io/pricing and drincloud.com/pricing, checked November 2, 2026, with AI on for every professional and the cheapest AI tier assumed. DrinCloud figures are annual.

Ask any vendor the two questions we would ask: what does the second professional cost, and what does AI for everyone cost. Practice Better answers $50, but only after a jump from $69 to $155, and $10 to $40 per practitioner by minute tier. We answer nothing, because the $119 band already holds three, and $20 flat per provider. Three professionals: $179 against $235, every month.

The heaviest block, and it turns on how the AI is sold. Both record a visit and hand you a draft. Theirs is metered, a tier of minutes then 2 cents each, and nothing below the $69 plan. Ours is $20 per provider, flat, from $49 up, clinical assistant included. Practice Better takes the template library row outright, which matters on day one. Our side is memory fields, in-visit procedures and a predictable price.

Calendars, booking pages, reminders and video are a draw and both sides should say so. Practice Better takes two rows cleanly: a client mobile app we do not have, and text reminders included from the $99 Plus plan while ours come in $36 packs of 300. Our rows come from running physical clinics: rooms and shifts, a waitlist that refills itself, tablet check-in, a call screen, WhatsApp.

Start with the row most comparisons get wrong. Practice Better Payments runs on Stripe at 2.9% plus 30 cents online and 2.7% plus 5 cents in person, exactly what a DrinCloud client pays on their own Stripe account, so we score it a tie. The difference is what a cash-pay clinic does all day: a deposit at booking, a sliding scale on the person, a signed priced estimate, products with stock.

Two honest wins for Practice Better. Nutrient analysis by food, meal and day is a core tool for a dietitian and we have nothing like it, and its name recognition in this niche is something a Spanish product cannot buy. Our ground is narrower and deeper: the interface in each user's language, and every patient tagged with the language their reminders arrive in.

This block is not close and no copywriting fixes it: 5.0 to them, 1.1 to us. If your practice sells 12 week programs instead of individual visits, buy Practice Better and stop reading here. Modules on a drip schedule, protocols, daily journals, mood and sleep from a wearable, feedback on entries, homework, a checkout page: all theirs, all absent here. They bill insurance and we do not.

A tie, and the first one on the page. Practice Better is far better connected: Zapier, wearables, a Connector Hub for QuickBooks and Salesforce at $49 a month, and a fax number, which still matters in US healthcare. We win on getting data in and out: our importer is free and a bad upload is deleted and redone, theirs exports one client at a time. More in alternatives to DrinCloud.

The honest answer

Which one fits you?

Practice Better is the better fit if...

  • You sell programs, not visits. If a 12 week protocol is your product, buy Practice Better: we have no programs module.
  • Your care happens between appointments: journals, mood and sleep from a wearable, homework, daily feedback on entries.
  • You are a dietitian who needs nutrient analysis by food, meal and day.
  • You bill insurance. CMS 1500 exports and Claim.MD cover eligibility and status, and ePrescribe is $49 a month. We file nothing.
  • You want to try before you pay: Sprout is free, paid plans have 14 days, Team 30. We have no trial at all.
  • You are one practitioner and intend to stay one: $79 with the AI is close to our $69, and a mobile app comes with it.

DrinCloud is the better fit if...

  • You are adding a second professional: $159 against $175 at two, $179 against $235 at three, because $119 covers 1 to 3 users.
  • You want the AI price unmetered: $20 per provider from the $49 plan up. See the AI scribe.
  • Your patients pay you visit by visit and a claims engine is dead weight.
  • Part of your schedule speaks Spanish or Portuguese: interface per user, reminders in each patient's language.
  • Your front desk is physical: rooms and shifts, a waitlist that refills cancellations, tablet check-in, a call screen.
  • You take money at booking, not after the visit.
  • You sell products: invoiced with stock deducted automatically.
  • You do procedures: in-visit actions billed on top, before and after photos, signed priced plans, surgery scheduling.
  • You need a superbill from day one: NPI, EIN, CPT and ICD-10 on a PDF. See superbills.
  • You want storage and free export in the price: 1 TB on Clinic, unlimited on Medical Center. See pricing.
FAQ

Questions about this comparison

I run 12 week programs. Should I use DrinCloud?
No, and we would rather say it plainly than waste your afternoon. DrinCloud has no programs module: no modules on a drip schedule, no protocols, no client journals, no homework tracking, no checkout page for a course. If your revenue comes from programs, Practice Better is the correct purchase. We fit the practice that books a visit, charges for it, and wants a record, a superbill and an AI scribe.
Why is the honest Practice Better number $79 and not $45?
Because the AI assistant does not exist below the $69 Professional plan. You can buy the $35 Starter plan and you can buy a $10 AI minute tier, but not together, so $45 cannot be invoiced. The cheapest real setup with AI drafting is $69 plus $10, which is $79. Ours is $69: the $49 Essential plan plus the $20 scribe, annual. We got this wrong once and corrected it.
What really happens when I hire a second professional?
At Practice Better the additional practitioner is $50 a month and exists only on the Team plan, so the base goes from $69 to $155 first. With AI on for both the bill is $175. At DrinCloud the $119 Clinic plan already covers 1 to 3 users, so the second professional adds nothing to the plan and $20 for their scribe, which is $159. At three it is $179 against $235.
Can I migrate from Practice Better to DrinCloud?
Yes, the import is free and you run it yourself. Practice Better exports client by client and the archive lives 48 hours, so plan a morning, or ask their support for a bulk export. Then upload the Excel or XML file with the importer built into DrinCloud. Chart PDFs attach to each patient's file pool, and a bad import is deleted whole and redone with no fee.
Is your card processing cheaper than theirs?
No, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling. Practice Better Payments runs on Stripe at 2.9% plus 30 cents online and 2.7% plus 5 cents in person, and a DrinCloud client on their own Stripe account pays the same standard US rates. We score that row a tie. The one real difference is whose account it is: yours, so a volume discount stays yours.
Where does the final score come from?
From the tables on this page and nothing else. Every scored row gives each product 1, 0.5 or 0 points, each block becomes a score out of 5, and the final number is the weighted average with the weights in the methodology. DrinCloud comes out at 3.9 and Practice Better at 3.2, with their 5.0 in programs against our 1.1 inside that average.
