Practice Better pricing in 2026, and five alternatives worth the comparison
Practice Better lists Sprout free, $35, $69, $99 and $155 plans. The second practitioner forces the $155 tier. Full math at one, two and three seats.
October 28, 2026 · 9 min read
Practice Better's US pricing page, read on October 28, 2026, lists five tiers: Sprout free, Launch at $35 a month ($25 billed annually), Grow at $69 ($59), Plus at $99 ($89) and Team at $155 ($145). The AI charting assistant is sold per practitioner in minute tiers: $10 for 1,200 minutes a month, $20 for 3,600 minutes, $40 for 7,200 minutes, then 2 cents a minute past the tier. An extra practitioner costs $50 a month, and only on the Team plan (practicebetter.io/pricing).
That last clause is the whole article. There is no way to add a second clinician to Launch, Grow or Plus. So when a solo nutritionist on Grow hires one associate, the bill does not go from $69 to $119. It goes from $69 to $205: $155 for Team plus $50 for the second seat. That is a 197 percent increase to add one person, and almost nobody sees it coming, because the pricing page presents Team as a bigger-practice plan rather than as the price of practitioner number two.
Here is the full math, the parts of Practice Better that genuinely have no equal, and five alternatives with real dollar figures next to them.
What Practice Better charges in 2026
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually, per month | Practitioners included | Extra practitioner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sprout | $0 | $0 | 1 | not available |
| Launch | $35 | $25 | 1 | not available |
| Grow | $69 | $59 | 1 | not available |
| Plus | $99 | $89 | 1 | not available |
| Team | $155 | $145 | 1 | $50 per month each |
One warning before you put these in a spreadsheet. Practice Better has relabeled its tiers more than once, and on the day we read the page the plan cards and the feature comparison table did not use identical names or agree perfectly on the annual figure for the $69 tier. Match the dollar amount and the practitioner limit, not the plan name, and screenshot what you see on the day you buy.
Sprout at $0 is real and it is aimed at students and brand new practitioners. If you are seeing four clients a month while you finish a credential, start there and ignore everything below until you are busy.
The AI charting assistant, priced by the minute
This is the pricing model most people misread, because it is not a flat per-clinician fee. You buy a monthly bucket of recorded minutes per practitioner.
| Tier | Minutes included per month | Price per practitioner | Roughly, 50 minute visits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 1,200 | $10 | 24 visits |
| Tier 2 | 3,600 | $20 | 72 visits |
| Tier 3 | 7,200 | $40 | 144 visits |
| Overage | beyond the tier | $0.02 per minute | $1 per 50 minute visit |
Do the arithmetic on your own calendar before you pick a tier. A functional medicine practitioner running 60 minute initial consults and 30 minute follow-ups, say 15 initials and 45 follow-ups a month, records 900 plus 1,350 minutes, so 2,250. Tier 1 at $10 covers 1,200 of those and the remaining 1,050 minutes cost $21 in overage, for $31. Tier 2 at $20 flat is cheaper. The per-minute design is honest and it is cheap at low volume, but it punishes anyone who guesses low and never checks the invoice again.
For context on what a scribe is worth at all: the studies put clinician documentation time at one to two hours a day, and that is the number that decides whether $10 or $40 a month is an argument.
The second practitioner, in dollars
| Practitioners | Required plan | Base | Seats | AI at Tier 1 each | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Grow | $69 | included | $10 | $79 |
| 2 | Team | $155 | +$50 | $20 | $225 |
| 3 | Team | $155 | +$100 | $30 | $285 |
| 4 | Team | $155 | +$150 | $40 | $345 |
Read the jump from row one to row two again. $79 to $225 for one extra clinician. Per clinician it looks less brutal, $112.50 against $79, and that is the argument a Practice Better rep would correctly make. But a two person practice is not a big practice, and the decision to hire your first associate is exactly the moment when $146 a month of new software cost lands badly.
If you are at that decision point, the question to ask is not "which plan do I need" but "is the second seat worth $100 a month in fees before I even turn on AI." Sometimes it plainly is, because Team adds things a growing practice wants. Often it is not, and the practice is paying a growth tax for a feature set it does not touch.
What Practice Better does better than anyone
We are not going to pretend this is a weak product. For nutrition, functional medicine and health coaching it is the best built thing on the market at what it is designed for, and three pieces in particular are hard to match:
Programs and protocols. You build a multi week program once, with sequenced content, modules that open on a schedule, and the handouts attached, and then you run every new client through it without rebuilding anything. If your revenue comes from 12 week packages rather than single visits, that one feature can be the entire reason to pick it.
Between visit work. Food and mood journaling, client check-ins, habit tracking, and the ability to see what someone actually did in the three weeks since you saw them. A nutrition practice lives or dies on adherence between appointments, and most general practice management software, ours included, has nothing serious here.
Protocol driven care plans. Recommendations, supplements, dosing and timing presented to the client in a format they can follow at home, tied back to the chart.
If those three paragraphs describe your business model, the honest advice is to stay on Practice Better and stop reading comparison posts. Pay the $155. The alternatives below are cheaper and simpler and none of them will run a 12 week program for you.
Five alternatives worth the comparison
Prices are list prices read on each vendor's public pricing page on October 28, 2026. Promotions and annual discounts are excluded. Check them yourself before you sign anything.
| Alternative | Entry price | AI scribe | Extra practitioner | Two practitioners with AI for both |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carepatron Advanced | $39 | included | $39 per user | $78 |
| Noterro Core | $33 | 300 credits included, then $0.01 per credit | $13.20 | about $46 plus credits |
| IntakeQ PracticeQ | $84.90 | none | $30 | $114.90, no AI available |
| Healthie Group | from $149 | add-on, price not published | $50 | from $199 plus AI fees |
| DrinCloud Clinic | $119 annually, $143 month to month | $20 per clinician | 1 to 3 users included | $159 |
| Practice Better Team | $155 | $10 to $40 per practitioner | $50 | $225 |
Four honest notes on that table.
Carepatron is the cheapest credible option at two practitioners and it is not close. $78 against $225. If budget is the deciding factor, start there.
Noterro is built for massage, chiropractic and manual therapy. The price is excellent. It is not a nutrition platform and it will not run programs.
IntakeQ and PracticeQ have the best intake forms in this category and no AI scribe at all. That is a real gap in 2026 and worth knowing before you compare the $84.90 to anything. We went through it line by line in the IntakeQ and PracticeQ pricing review.
Healthie is the closest competitor to Practice Better for nutrition and telehealth, with a stronger API story, and the AI add-on has no published price, which makes budgeting a conversation rather than a calculation. Full breakdown in the Healthie pricing guide.
Then there is ours. DrinCloud is practice management software for clinics that bill the patient rather than an insurer. The Clinic plan covers one to three users for $119 a month billed annually, the AI scribe is $20 per clinician, and users four and five are $45 each. Two clinicians with AI for both is $159. What that buys and does not buy is laid out on the plans and prices page.

Where DrinCloud is the wrong answer
Three places, stated plainly, because you will find them out in week two otherwise.
- We do not bill insurance. No clearinghouse, no eligibility check, no denial management. If a meaningful share of your revenue comes from claims, we are not a candidate. We generate superbills and the patient files them, which is a different business.
- We do not have a program builder or a food journal. No sequenced 12 week modules, no habit tracking, no supplement dispensary. For a nutrition and dietitian practice that sells programs, this is the thing Practice Better has and we do not.
- We are not ONC certified and we have no e-prescribing. Prescriptions print or go out as PDF. In states with an e-prescribing mandate, California and Florida and New York among them, a functional medicine practice that prescribes needs a separate e-Rx platform.
What we do have that matters at this price point: charting with the AI scribe, superbills with NPI, EIN and your own CPT and ICD-10 codes, unlimited patients on every plan, remote e-signature on every plan, HIPAA with a BAA included, and a patient portal where each patient sees everything in their own language, English, Spanish, Portuguese or German. Nobody else on the list above does support in Spanish and Portuguese.
Decide it in ten minutes
- Count your practitioners today, and the number you expect in twelve months. If that second number is 2 or more, price Practice Better Team, not Grow.
- Add up your recorded minutes per clinician per month and pick the AI tier from the real figure, not the cheapest one.
- Ask whether programs and between visit tracking are how you make money. If yes, stay and pay.
- If no, price Carepatron and one patient-pays-you platform side by side at your real seat count.
- Whatever you choose, export your current data first and open the file before you cancel anything. Nobody checks that until migration day, and that is when it hurts.
A longer version of step four, with the fixed costs a small practice forgets, is in our what an EHR really costs a small practice write-up.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Practice Better cost per month?
List prices on October 28, 2026 were Sprout free, Launch $35, Grow $69, Plus $99 and Team $155 a month, with annual billing at $25, $59, $89 and $145 respectively. The AI charting assistant adds $10 to $40 per practitioner depending on recorded minutes, and extra practitioners are $50 each on Team only.
Can I add a second practitioner to the Grow plan?
No. Additional practitioners are available only on the Team plan at $50 a month each. A two clinician practice pays $155 plus $50, so $205 before AI, which is why the jump from one clinician to two is the largest single cost increase in Practice Better's price list.
Is the free Sprout plan actually usable?
Yes, for a very small caseload. It is aimed at students and new practitioners and it exists so you can run a handful of clients without paying. It is not a trial that expires, but you will outgrow it as soon as you are busy enough to need a full schedule and billing.
Does Practice Better include an AI scribe?
It includes an AI charting assistant as a paid add-on from the Grow tier upward, priced per practitioner by monthly recorded minutes: $10 for 1,200 minutes, $20 for 3,600 and $40 for 7,200, with overage at 2 cents a minute. It is not bundled into the base plan price.
What is the cheapest Practice Better alternative for two clinicians?
On the list prices we read on October 28, 2026, Carepatron Advanced at $39 per user with AI included works out to $78 a month for two clinicians, the lowest of the credible options. IntakeQ PracticeQ is $114.90 but has no AI scribe, and DrinCloud Clinic with AI for two clinicians is $159.
Does any of these handle insurance claims?
Practice Better, Healthie and IntakeQ PracticeQ all support insurance billing workflows to different degrees. DrinCloud does not: there is no clearinghouse and no eligibility check, by design. If you file claims, cross us off the list and compare the other four.
DrinCloud is practice management software for clinics the patient pays directly: charting with an AI scribe at $20 per clinician, superbills, scheduling, payments and a multilingual patient portal, from $49 a month. No insurance claims, and no sales call. See the plans.
